This collection contains a variety of photographs of Pittsburgh, ca. 1940. The images include scenes of Schenley Park, including the Schenley Fountain, Phipps Conservatory, Westinghouse Memorial, Spanish American War Memorial, Panther Hollow, as well as general park scenes. Other photographs include the University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning, Stephen Foster Memorial, and Heinz Chapel. Area landmarks such as Soliders and Sailors Memorial, Mellon Institute, Highland Park, showing the Stephen Foster statue, are also represented. The collection also highlights downtown Pittsburgh, including pictures of boats on the Monongahela River and general street scenes of the city during winter.
